Civic Cu/tura/Commission pe9e Z <br /> Minutes of February 3, 20U0 <br /> ITEM 1 • NOMINATIONS AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 2000 <br /> M/S Dale/Del Carlo: To continue with Qliv � � � _. <br /> er Redington as chairpersort�nd <br /> Barbara Britschgi as vice chairperson.of�t�e Cultural Comrr�isslor��or this ° _ <br /> year. : . <br /> Both Oliver and Barbara agreed_to �ccept-�he nomtnations a�d-serve aAOther- <br /> year. _ __ <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 2 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo announced the committee will be meeting this <br /> month and will report back in March. <br /> -Children and Schools, Art Conte�t Update <br /> Art entry torms will be out to the schools very soon; Commissioner , <br /> Schenone agreed to arrange the judges for the poetry portion of t#�e contest. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events, Summer Concert Plan <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo reviewed the proposed dates of the 2000 Concert <br /> Schedule: June 21, July 5 and 19, August 2, 16 and 30. The concerts will <br /> again be held from 6:00-8:OOpm. She reported that the survey to determine <br /> the location of the concerts was 5096 for Stafford and 5096 for Red Morton. <br /> The committee decided to try Stafford Park as the location for this year's <br /> concerts and then re-evaluate after the concert series is over. Music groups <br /> selected are: Express 5, Fred McCarthy Country Westem Band, E-Ticket, <br /> Jeff Filippi's Big Band and Celtic Heart; we are still looking for a Latin/Salsa <br /> group. Publicity for the concert will be done through flyers, posters, press <br /> releases, advertising in the Veterans Memorial Senior Center newsletter, <br /> Channet 8 advertisements, banners at Stafford Park and on Broadway. It <br /> was suggested that the concert information be placed on the °scrolling <br /> information" on Channel 8 prior to the Council meetings. <br /> M/S Del CarloBritschgi: To accept the 2000 Summer Concert Schedule as <br /> proposed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -Report on Port Commission Meeting, Redington <br /> Chairperson Redington reported he attended the Pori Commission meeting on <br /> January 26 and requested 55,500 for this year's Concerts in the Park <br /> Program. The full amount was approved by the Port Commissio� who also <br /> requested that the Commission have another concert at the Port. <br /> Superintendent Centeno stated that staff is ananging a "Redwood City Night <br /> at the Giantsp. She suggested that if th�e City is able to acrange a ferry from <br /> the port to the game, then perhaps a band coutd be funded by the - <br /> Commission to provide entertainmerrt on the ferry. The Commissioners <br /> agreed with the concept. <br /> -Planning <br /> No report. <br />
