Civic Cu/tural Commissron Page 3 <br /> Minutes of March 2, 2000 <br /> -Child�en and Schoois, Art Contest Update <br /> Superintendent Centeno reported that everything has been delivered to the <br /> schools and entries are due back on March 23. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Britschgi: To authorize up to 5500.00 for cash prize, awards, <br /> trophies for the 2000 Art Contest. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events, Summer Concert Series <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo reported the sub-committee is still looking for a salsa <br /> band. Please contact her if you have any suggestions. <br /> -Planning, Strategic Brainstorming and Review of Public Meeting Dates <br /> Superintendent Centeno reported that two of the public meetings have been <br /> held and two more will be held next week. Attendance at the first meeting <br /> in Redwood Shores was minimal; attendance at the second meeting was <br /> very good. A survey/report card was given to all attendees to complete at <br /> the meetings. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that she has not received a response from <br /> Peter Nosler. She has asked Nick Watry to assist in contacting Mr. Nosler. <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the Public Art pamphlet which was designed <br /> by former Commissioner Tamara Piulle several years ago and made some <br /> suggestions on ways to update the form. The Commissioners also spoke <br /> about organizing a sub-committee to update the Public Art binder and <br /> comparing it to the Historic Resources Advisory booklet. <br /> The ,Commissioners were provided with a copy of the summary <br /> recctmmendation from the Architectural Advisory Committee regarding the <br /> relocation of the jade (serpentine) ship. The recommendation is in conflict <br /> with the Cultural Commission's recommendation and Superintendent <br /> Centeno stated that the matter is in the hands of Mayor Ruskin. A copy of <br /> the report will be sent to Paula Uccelli and Andy Frisch. <br /> ITEM 3 - EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD OVER THE PAST 30 <br /> DAYS <br /> Saye - no report <br /> Britschgi - has been touring a group from Australia around the Bay Area <br /> Del Carlo - no report <br /> Redington - attended the American Legion Citizen of the Year award; Millie <br /> Cole was the recipient of the award. He also stated that Redwood City <br /> Optimists were recently recognized by the City Council for their support of <br /> purchasing music instruments for the Redwood City School District. <br /> Items for April Agenda: <br /> -Status of jade ship at City Hall <br />
