The <br /> Commissioners were reminded that tfiis item will be on the ]une 26 City <br /> Council agenda and representatives from the Commission should be in <br /> attendance at the meeting in the event there are any questions. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Saye: To increase funds allocated to the Public Art <br /> Fund �rom $4,000 to $5,000. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Superintendent Centeno explained the Commission cannot take action this <br /> evening on the Taft Healthy Start grant, but could take action at the July <br /> meeting. If the grant was approved, it would be funded from Fiscal Year <br /> 2000-2001 budget. <br /> M/S Dale/Saye: To place the Taft Heafthy 5'�art grant request on the <br /> 7uty agenda and consider for funding at that meeting. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Children and Schoois, Art & Poetry Contest Review Meeting Date, <br /> Street Party Event <br /> Commissioner Schenone stated that a meeting needs to be set up to critique <br /> the Art and Poetry Contest. Superintendent Centeno announced that the <br /> Street Party event was successful as a first time event; there were 100 to <br /> 200 students in attendance. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events, Summer Concert Series <br /> Superintendent Centeno announced concert flyers and posters were available <br /> tonight for the Commissioners to distribute. The Commissioners were <br /> reminded to sign-up for specific concert dates to provide band introductions. <br /> Superintendent Centeno stated that a group of Stafford Park neighbors will <br /> be meeting with stafF on Wednesday, )une 21 at 7:OOpm to discuss traffic <br /> and noise issues at the park which also included the concert in the park <br /> series. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi announced she and Chairperson Redington went <br /> before the Planning Commission to obtain their support on the concept of a <br /> "percent for public art" program. Planning Commissioners Michael Verdone <br /> and Tamara Piulie voiunteered to assist with this project. Community <br /> Development Department staff is currently drafting a policy document for the <br /> sub-committee's review. The draft document wili then be fo►warded to the <br /> Cultural Commission before going to the City Council for approval. <br /> -Strategic Plan Update <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo reported the next meeting will be on June 7. A <br /> funding request has been submitted to the City Manager to provide a <br /> consultant to assist with our strategic planning process. <br />
