Civic Cultura/Commission page 2 " ° <br /> Minutes of October 4, 2001 ° <br /> Victorian Christmas Open House in December. Mrs. Masters stated that <br /> entertainment has been secured for the October event, but not for the <br /> December event. <br /> -Peninsula Ballet Theatre School - $1,000 <br /> No representative was present from this organization. Commissioner Ball <br /> was not successful in reaching Rosine Bena regarding her grant request. The <br /> Commissioners agreed to table this grant request until Ms. Bena could be <br /> present at the meeting and also confirm her reservation of the Fox Theater. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Douglas: To grant $1,000.00 to The Dancers <br /> Repertory Theater. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Douglas/Ball: To grant $500.00 to Redwood City Heritage <br /> Association. <br /> Commissioner pouglas explained the $500.00 grant would provide <br /> entertainment for the October event and suggested that Mrs. Masters come <br /> back for funding for the December event when the entertainment was <br /> secured. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Director Centeno explained that since there will be no election in November, <br /> Councilmember Pierce has suggested that the Council look for ideas from the <br /> community to use the $35,000 planned expenditure. The Chamber of <br /> Commerce will be sponsoring a candidates forum at McKinley School on <br /> October 27 from 9:30-11:30am which will feature the newly sworn in <br /> Councilmembers. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> No report. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner pouglas reported the 'Tis the Season Committee will be having <br /> a meeting next week with Ciry officials. He mentioned that a new "800" <br /> number has been implemented which will provide `Tis the Season <br /> information. Commissioner Ball stated former Community Development <br /> Director Deborah Nelson who is now with the City of San Mateo, contacted <br /> 'Tis the Season members to get more information on our fireworks display. <br /> She also noted that 1,400 flyers will be sent in the Chamber's monthly <br /> newsletter to advertise the 'Tis the Season event on December 1. <br />
