Director Centeno will call Mr. McKenna to <br /> discuss. <br /> Director Centeno provided the Commissioners with a copy of a letter from the <br /> Redwood City Downtown Business Group concerning transferring <br /> responsibility of the entire `Tis the Season event to their group. She noted <br /> that no action could be taken on this item because it was not on the agenda. <br /> This item will be placed on the April agenda for further discussion. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Dave Redfern of the Downtown Business Group stated that they met a week <br /> ago with the �Tis the Season group to discuss the 2000 event. Mr. Redfern <br /> said the Downtown Business Group would like to be in charge of all the �Tis <br /> the Season events including the parade. They feel they have more <br /> manpower to stafF the events and they also feel that changes are needed to <br /> expand and make the event more successful. Mr. Redfern said the <br /> Downtown Business Group's ideas were not welcome at the meeting and they <br /> feel that if are going to pay for the parade insurance and be responsible for <br /> organizing the parade, they should be responsible for all aspects of the <br /> event. Mr. Redfern was advised the letter was just received today and no <br /> action could be taken at this evening's meeting, but the matter would be <br /> placed on the April agenda. <br /> Juan Carlos Prado of the Downtown Task Force invited the Commission to <br /> attend their meeting on Saturday, March 3 at 8:30am at the Community <br /> Room of the Main Library. He asked the Commission to make a one half hour <br /> presentation at the meeting to educate the Task Force on the Cultural <br /> Commission's purpose and work in the community. Mr. Prado was interested <br /> in promoting a performing arts center to be located on the property at <br /> Middlefield and Jefferson (current employee parking lot) and asked the <br /> Commission to attend this meeting to express their support. <br /> ITEM 1 — STANFORD DIGITAL ART PRESENTATION <br /> There was no representative from Stanford Digital Art Department at the <br /> meeting to discuss this item. <br /> ITEM 2 — SMALL GRANT REQUESTS <br /> Veronica Velez of the Redwood City Healthy Start Network spoke regarding <br /> their grant request of $999.00 to fund live music groups for their "Mano-a- <br /> Mano: Parent to Parent" Festival. The 5t'' annual festival is planned for April <br /> 28 from 11:OOam to 3:OOpm at Hoover School. The festival will include <br /> vendors, food booths, dancing and multi-cultural entertainment. <br />
