Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of March 1, 2001 <br /> M/S Dale/Kushin: To grant $999.00 to Redwood City Healthy Start <br /> Network if available from the contingency fund. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 — ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS FROM DOWNTOWN TASK FORCE <br /> This matter has been deferred to the April meeting. <br /> ITEM 4 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> The sub-committee will be meeting with Director Centeno this month. <br /> -Children and Schools, Art Contest <br /> The deadline for the art contest is tomorrow and entries will be picked up at <br /> schools on Monday, March 5. The voting process was finalized with the <br /> Commissioners. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events, Summer Concert Series <br /> Commissioner Kushin repqrted that he and Commissioner Del Carlo selected <br /> the music groups for this year's concert series after listening to CDs and <br /> tapes of several performing groups. This year's concert series will consist of <br /> six concerts at Stafford Park and will be held every other Wednesday <br /> beginning in June and finishing up in September. The Commissioners <br /> discussed having an additional concert in Redwood Shores and Director <br /> Centeno spoke about the Commission previously funding a musical group to <br /> perform at the Rubber Ducky event in the Shores. The Commission has not <br /> heard about their funding request from the Port Commission for sponsorship <br /> of the 2001 concert series. <br /> -Strategic Plan Update <br /> No report. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Chairperson Britschgi reported she attended a recent Art Center meeting and <br /> reported that the Art Center is not planning a fundraising event and they are <br /> still working with their landlord concerning their rent issue. The four <br /> Ledesma paintings purchased by the Commission last year were on display <br /> for the Commissioners. Chairperson Britschgi suggested the Commissioners <br /> make suggestions on where they could be hung. <br /> The Commissioners discussed using the space now available on the second <br /> floor of City Hall due to the relocation of the jade ship. Chairperson Britschgi <br /> said she wanted to hang pictures where the jade ship had been and Director <br /> Centeno spoke about the need for lighting in that space and agreed to check <br /> on this matter. <br />
