He felt the focus of the 'Tis the Season program was to bring people to <br /> downtown Redwood City and suggested that one group be the governing <br /> body. <br /> Director Centeno asked the Commission if this program is still a Cultural <br /> Commission-sponsored event, and if it is, would they accept assigning <br /> responsibility to another group. She also asked if any of the Commissioners <br /> were interested in being the committee liaison and actively participating in <br /> the program. Commissioner Kushin asked the Commissioners if they were <br /> concerned about the process or just the end product, and that the <br /> Commission needs to look at the overall objectives of the program. <br /> Chairperson Britschgi read Commissioner Ball's letter to the Commission and <br /> her request that the responsibility of the �Tis the Season program remain <br /> with the Cultural Commission. Commissioner Dale suggested that the two <br /> groups involved meet with a representative from Peninsula Conflict <br /> Resolution Center (PCRC) to try and work out a managing body. Mr. Slusser <br /> stated that the parade is one piece of the program and there are many other <br /> facets of the `Tis the Season program which need attention and work. He <br /> suggested that the group stay focused on the "what" and not the 'how" <br /> things are completed. Jeff Norris stated that there are approximately 12 <br /> members on the 'Tis the Season committee and asked the Commission if <br /> they wanted to continue to sponsor the program or turn it over to another <br /> group. <br /> M/S Dale/Douglas: That the Commission endorse the next `Tis the <br /> Season meeting and propose that they invite the PCRC to facilitate a <br /> meeting on developing their own organization which can include <br /> adopting one of these organizations. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-4, No-2 Kushin, Soultanian) <br /> The next meeting of the `Tis the Season Committee will be held on <br /> Wednesday, April 18. Mr. Slusser agreed to contact PCRC to arrange a <br /> facilitator for the meeting and staff will mail an agenda to all members on the <br /> `The the Season committee roster. <br /> ITEM 2 — SMALL GRANT REQUEST <br /> John Alita of the Library spoke on behalf of their grant request of $999.00 <br /> which would provide a quarterly film series that showcases independent films <br /> by and about Latinos. <br /> M/5 Kushin/DelCarlo: To grant $999.00 to Redwood City Public <br /> Library. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br />
