Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of May 3, 2001 <br /> ITEM 1 - SMALL GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Vintage Music Theatre <br /> Bill McKenna thanked the Commission for their previous grant support. Mr. <br /> McKenna explained that their original grant request in February 2001 was for <br /> $4,500 and the Commission granted only $1,500, which is not enough for the <br /> Vintage Music Theatre to provide their two planned performances. The <br /> Commissioners explained that due to unusual circumstances, the Commission <br /> offered a second large grant request process in February. Due to the large <br /> number of grants received during that process, the Commissioners elected to <br /> fund all grant applicants but at a lower grant amount. Mr. McKenna <br /> explained the reason for his additional grant request and how this additional <br /> grant would fund the two performances of°California Cavalcade". <br /> M/S Kushin/Douglas: To grant �999.00 to the Vintage Music <br /> Theatre. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Sequoia High School, Drama Department <br /> Sharon Hom spoke on behalf of Lorie Stevens of the Sequoia High School <br /> Drama Department regarding their grant request of $999.00 to fund their <br /> three performances of"Pirates of Penzance". Ms. Hom explained that the <br /> Drama Department needs funding to repair the stage lighting at Carrington <br /> Hall. <br /> M/S Douglas/Del Carlo: To grant �999.00 to Sequoia High School <br /> Drama Department. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Commissioner pouglas left the meeting at 8:30am. <br /> ITEM 2 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> The Commissioners discussed the fact that if funds were remaining in their <br /> budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001, they would like to transfer these funds to <br /> the CIP for public art at the next meeting. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> Summer Concerts - Commissioner Kushin reported that contracts have been <br /> signed by the musical groups, a concert flyer will be produced, and posters <br /> will be printed advertising the concert series. The first concert will be held on <br /> Wednesday, June 27 at Stafford Park. <br />
