steps to be taken to present this proposition to the people for a vote. <br />337 <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI CALLED ATTENTION of City Engineer Jain to the act that crew of three <br />had used excessive time in laying pipe for drainage at Bradford Street bridge between <br />9 A.M. and 3 P.M., which he noted having passed this point several times during the <br />day. Mr. Jain stated he would check into the situation. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI ANNOUNCED BUSINESS LICENSE COMMITTEE MEETING would be held Thursday <br />PPOM <br />night at 8:00 in the City Hall. <br />6 <br />COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST QUESTIONED THE NUMBER OF TRAFFIC FA`1'ALI'T`IES reported in the Mail <br />Dispatch as the worst on the Peninsula. In reply to this Police Chief Collins stated <br />records were searched by one who wrote the article. bud Sprunger of the Tribune <br />Poo added he had written a competitive story the next day calling attention to the fact <br />bm" that last year's fatalities had decreased from the year before. <br />MAYOR HILTON POINTED OUT THAT A TRAFFIC STUDY OF THE BROADWAY AND EL CAMINO INTERSECTION <br />be made and that lines painted showing left south turn on El Camino from Broadway <br />would be commendable to prevent cutting of corner by motorists. This matter will <br />be referred to the Traffic and Safety Commission for their recommendation. <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE REPORTED ON THE PRESENT STATUS OF CARROLL PARK SUBDIVISION MAP. He <br />explained that Green Bros. had deposited with the San Mateo Title Company the sum <br />of 017,811.00 to cover the total cost of improvements plus $500 inspection fees, the <br />title company to pay progress payments to the contractor only when approved by the <br />City Manager. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the <br />City Manager was authorized to enter into an agreement between Green Bros., San <br />Aateo Title Company and ourselves in line with the above. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 537. A resolution was presented authorizing City Manager Rolison to enter <br />into contract with Pacific Gas & Electric Company to supply outdoor street lamps <br />from the existing overhead lines in the Redwood Village Subdivision to be purchased <br />at cost with the stipulation that the City may take over or purchase any time within <br />one year following the date of installation. Foregoing resolution offered for <br />adoption by Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Swift and carried on roll <br />call. Councilman Granger noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION No- 537 <br />AUTHORIZING ThE PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY TO SUPPLY OUTDOOR STREET <br />LAMPS FROM THE EXISTING OVERKJAD LINES IN THE: REDWOOD VILLAGE SUBDIVISION. <br />WHEREAS, it is desired that certain public outdoor street lamps be supplied <br />from the existing overhead lines of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in the <br />Redwood Village Subdivision in accordance with street and highway lighting schedule <br />�,.,. L-31 now on file with the Public Service Commission. <br />AND WHEREAS, it is further desired that such installations be made contingent <br />upon the right of the City to purchase all of said street lighting facilities at <br />cost, any time within a period of one (1) year following the date of installation, <br />for the purpose of operating the same in connection with and as a part of the <br />present existing City owned street lighting system; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE Iii' RESOLVED, that the Pacific Gas and Electric Company be <br />,.� requested to submit an estimate of the cost of installing the attached described <br />street lighting units at specified locations together with connecting circuits, <br />the same to be installed in such a manner that the installation will comply with <br />6-W General Order Number 95 of the Public Service Commission, when and if the City <br />may see fit to purchase and operate the same as c city owned utility. <br />FURThER RESOLVED, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to <br />enter into a contract with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the supplying <br />of outdoor street lighting in the Redwood Village subdivision, if in his opinion <br />the estimate of the cost thereof as submitted by the said Pacific Gas and Electric <br />Company, is reasonable. <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />bRITSChGI, HOL14QUIST9 McNUL'TI, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON. <br />
