area on the easterly side of Middlefield Road near Broadway, in front of the old <br />Central School property, previously estimated at 9365, of which it was informally <br />agreed that the city should pay one-half. It had been re -surveyed by the City <br />Engineer Glenn Jain and Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini, and it was found that <br />complete this job in a satisfactory manner it would cost the sum of $540. The <br />letter stated that the City Manager would be please to approve payment of any .0#1 <br />portion of this latter estimate that the Council might authorize. Councilman 0,34 <br />Britschgi moved this be put on the agenda for the next meeting in order to give the <br />Council time to consider such payment, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />A LETTER FROM THE PERSONNEL BOARD TO THE MAYOR AND SIGNED BY RICHARD D. MILLER, SECRE- <br />TARY, INFORI,IED THE COUNCIL OF THEIR MEETING JUNE 9th, in regard to the discussion W" <br />of the re-classification and salary equalization survey. Mr. Hunter, Personnel "4w <br />Consultant for Louis J. Kroeger and Associates, was present and explained the pur- <br />pose and method of the survery. After discussion, on motion, the Personnel Board <br />recommended to the City Council that the City enter into a contract with the above <br />firm for examination services. A proposed agreement was enclosed for the Council's <br />consideration. On advice from City Att=r-y Currie that the contract with the State <br />would first have to be cancelled giving thirty (30) days notice. Councilman <br />Holmquist offered and moved adoption of resolution that the City's contract with <br />the State be cancelled and that a new contract be entered into with Kroeger and <br />Associates, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Louis Weiss in the audience requested <br />that the figures be made public and Mayor Werder assured him that they would be <br />available. Motion carried on roll call, Councilman Swift noted absent. <br />R E S 0 L U T ION No. 585 <br />CANCELLING CONTRACT WITH STATE PERSONNEL BOARD FOR EXAMINING SERVICES AND <br />AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH LOUIS J. KROEGER AND ASSOCIATES FOR EXAMING SERVICES <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the contract between <br />the City of Redwood City and the California State Personnel Board, for performance <br />by said Board of technical personnel services pursuant to authority contained in <br />Section 19707 Government Code, which contract was entered into on July 21, 1947, be <br />and the same is, hereby cancelled; and the City Manager is directed to give the <br />State Personnel Board the thirty (30) days notice of such cancellation as required <br />by said contract. <br />FURT3ER RESOLVED, that a contract between the City of Redwood City and Louis J. <br />Kroeger and Associates, for a complete testing service embracing the preparation <br />and scoring of written tests for all classes established under the City personnel <br />system, be, and the same is, hereby authorized, said contrast to be effective as <br />of August 1, 1948. <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he is, hereby authorized to <br />enter into such contract with Louis J. Kroeger and Associates in accordance with the <br />form thereof submitted to the City Council on the 21st day of June, 1949. <br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 585, <br />adopted by the City -Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of <br />June, 1948, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California. <br />IM WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said City this <br />7th day of July, 1949. <br />RALPH S. SMITH COMMUNICATION REGARDING INSTALLATION OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON REDWOOD <br />TERRACE No. 1. In regard to the communication from L. C. Smith, City Attorney <br />Currie explained that conference had been held between this firm, City Manager <br />Rolison and himself and it was thought that the City should comply with Mr. Smith's <br />request.
