It was moved by Councilman Spillers that the Planning Commission con- <br />sider set -back lines on Whipple as their first order of business at their next <br />meeting, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER PROTESTED ASSESSMENT ON PERSONAL PROPERTY IN THE BRANCH OFFICE IN <br />REDWOOD CITY stating they were assessed for property in the amount of X210 and the <br />value should be $100. Councilman Granger moved that this letter should be referred <br />to City Assessor Brophy for a report to be given by him to the Board of Equalization, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />LETTER FROM COL. JNO. H. SKEGGS, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS AND ATTACHED SUGGESTED PROVISIONS <br />FOR INCLUSION IN COUNTY FRANCHISES TO UTILITIES WERE PRESENTED TO THE COUNCIL. <br />Contents of the letter requested that the State Division of Highways be notified of <br />pending franchises for the location of utilities in public roads effecting either a <br />State highway, County road, or a City street so that a representative from their <br />office might appear before the Council when the franchise was considered. This <br />measure would be taken to protect the City, County and State in the event improvements <br />were to be made in the future, the utility companies should be willing to assume the <br />cost of any necessary relocation of said facilities because of any improvement in <br />highway, or roadway for the public good. City Engineer Jain stated that no franchise <br />were pending at present. Councilman Holmquist moved that the letter and the suggested <br />provisions be placed on file in the City Engineer's office to follow and bring before <br />the Council when any contracts would be entered into with utility companies, and <br />carried. <br />LOUIS 1-lEISS REQUESTED, IN A LETTER, THE USE OF THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS FOR A GROUP TO MEET <br />TO ESTABLISH A TOWN HALL FORUM IN THE COMMUNITY. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />permission be granted for this splendid idea provided that notice be given in advance <br />and that meetings did not conflict with the City business, seconded by Councilman <br />Swift. Councilman Granger wished it to be understood that these forums would not <br />become politic in any way. Motion carried. <br />JAMES CORBETT, 922 Valota Road, offered $200 each for Lots 18, 19, and 20, in Block 2, <br />Resubdivision of Lot 25, Wooster, Whitton and Montgomery, part of Redwood Farm, or <br />a total of $600 cash plus costs of publication for the tax delinquent lots. As the <br />Real Estate Committee had not reviewed these lots, Councilman Spillers moved this be <br />referred to the Real Estate Committee for study, seconded by Councilman Swift, and <br />carried. <br />APPLICATION FOR RESTAURANT PERMIT BY Leonard & Clifton Daiss, 2089 Broadway, $20 fee <br />having been deposited, was granted on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />APPLICATION FOR KIT -KAT CAFE, E. W. THORPE & R. R. Mc . EAN, 2065 Broadway, 920.00 fee <br />having been paid, was granted subject to Sanitary Inspector's recommendations on <br />motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and amended to the <br />effect that this be carried on the agenda for sixty days with the understanding that <br />the Health Department report to the Council that the owners have complied with <br />sanitary recommendations of Inspector Duncan. Motion carried. <br />
