American Legion and if the title company approved there would be a reversionary 4 75 <br />interest in the City of Redwood City provided this reversionary interest could be <br />subordinated to any loans which the Legion might wish to make on the property. After <br />considerable discussion on the motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman <br />Holmquist, the City Attorney was directed to file an answer on behalf of the City. <br />ANNIE OFFERi•1AN appeared again protesting a manhole installed in the sidewalk on her property <br />on Jefferson Avenue and asked that the P.G.& E. be made to remove them to the street. <br />It was moved by Councilman Britschgi that the problem be turned over to the City <br />Attorney to see what action could be taken, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and <br />carried. Miss Offermann was to be notified of any possible action. <br />INVESTIGATION OF CHICKEN ORDINANCE COMMITTEE. Councilman Swift reported progress on this <br />investigation and said they would like to give this more study. This was put on the <br />agenda. <br />CITY COLLECTOR PERRIN REPORTED ON JUNK DEALERS. There were five licensed junk dealers <br />operating in the City, three conduct storage yards and two do not. Mr. Pollard who <br />applied for a permit would have daily pick-up service. His application would make <br />six in all. Mr. A. W. Christman appeared thinking that he had to appear before the <br />Council to renew his license, but was informed that all that was necessary was to <br />renew with City Collector Perrin. After discussion Councilman Holmquist moved that <br />the permit be granted Matthew Pollard, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />FURTHER REPORT ON YACHT HARBOR COMMITTEE. City Manager Rolison further reported that <br />there was some discussion regarding the possible increase in berth rentals. Mayor <br />pro -tem Morgan thought the committee should study and report at a later date. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the City continue control of Yacht Harbor operations, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. Administrative Assistant Miller stated <br />that this would in no ways change the totals of the budget but that the budget should <br />be revised to show expense of one employee. Auditor Brophy concurred in this so <br />that the required amount could be appropriated for salary. Councilman Granger moved <br />that the budget be amended to show an employee at Yacht Harbor, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi, and carried. <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR'S REPORT ON QUONSET HUTS. Building Inspector Duncan stated that the <br />architectural features have to be approved by the Planning Commission, the committee <br />who reviews type of architecture and approves it is Mr. Wise, Mr. Jain, and Mr. <br />Wilson, that they could be called together anytime to approve types of buildings. <br />SUB -STANDARD HOUSING, 504 Hamilton, Flores. Councilman Holmquist reported that the <br />County Health Department had tenants in mind and would assist them in locating <br />another place to live. This was placed on the agenda. <br />A LETTER FROM SAM J. ADE REQUESTED A PEPJIIT TO OPERATE A TAXICAB BUSINESS IN REDWOOD CITY <br />stating that one present cab company had 21 permits, but using only 8. City <br />Attorney Currie stated that the ordinance provided that decision of number of cabs <br />needed in the City rests with the City Council, that the letter requesting the <br />permit was not an application in the proper form. Mr. Robert Jennings 247 San Carlos <br />Avenue, c0 -owner of the Yellow Cab Company in Redwood City, protested issuing any <br />more permits, that -the cabs on the streets were good cars equipped with radios and <br />should be considered as much a part of the city facilities as their bus line, that <br />since combining cab companies the drivers were enabled to make a living wage, that <br />the company was not in any way connected with the San Francisco Yello Cab Company, <br />
