He further stated that in his opinion, if more <br />cabs were allowed on the streets, present drivers would not be able to make a <br />living, and price wars would result in spite of an ordinance prohibiting it. There <br />was considerable discussion on this. Councilman Spillers moved that other companies' <br />application be denied and asked for a roll call. The motion was lost for want of <br />a second. Mr. Jennings stated that permits would vary from 8 to 13 depending on <br />the season. It was decided to appoint a committee to re -study the ordinance, the <br />committee to be appointed by Mayor Werder on his return from his vacation. Council- <br />man Holmquist moved that the matter be dropped as there was no actual application <br />before the Council at this time, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. The <br />matter was placed on the agenda of re -draft of Taxicab Ordinance to be presented <br />at the next meeting. <br />CITY MANAGER ROLISON REPORTED THAT THE TRAFFIC DIVISION had no report at this time as <br />they wished to meet with the Traffic and Safety Commission first and some of the <br />members were on vacation at the present time. Councilman Holmquist suggested the <br />matter be placed on the agenda. <br />CHANGE OF STREET NAMES. John V. Deal, 551 Hampton Way, Mr. Bledsoe and others were <br />present and objected to changes proposed by the Planning Commission in the street <br />names and wished to have some voice in the matter. After considerable discussion <br />it was decided that Councilmen Britschgi and Spillers would meet with the residents <br />in this area in an attempt to arrive at names which would be acceptable to all <br />concerned. Councilman Britschgi was to be chairman of the committee. City Engineer <br />Jain was to meet with them also as another tract was being recorded this week and <br />this included a continuation of Hampton Avenue. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />adoption of the proposed ordinance be duly and regularly continued to the next <br />meeting, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY FOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT. City Manager Rolison reported that <br />the Real Estate Committee (Councilmen Spillers and Holmquist) met with the owners. <br />Councilman Holmquist stated that after a period of several weeks it was agreed <br />that the City would pay 51250 per acre for the necessary land for the sewage plant. <br />City Attorney Currie stated that deeds would be prepared in the near future. City <br />;•tanager Rolison reported that the owners had agreed to give easements for sewer <br />lines through a portion of their property at no cost to the City. It was moved by <br />Councilman Spillers that this be put on the agenda, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi, and carried. <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION 1947-1. No. 596. VALOTA ROAD SOJERS. This resolution approved <br />assessment diagram district and properties benefitted. Councilman Britschgi offered <br />resolution and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Swift. It was brought <br />out that those using septic tanks could not be forced to connect up with the <br />sewers except to comply with the Health Department regulations. Motion carried on <br />roll call. Mayor I-terder noted absent. <br />RE SO LUT ION No. 596 <br />APPROVING ASSESSMENT DIAGRAM <br />(RESOLUTION (QALOTAEROADNSANTTARY SEVER}455)ION No. �5} <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, California, that <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision of Redwood City Ordinance No. 333, the City <br />Engineer prepared a diagram of the district and the properties benefitted by the <br />
