Councilman Britschgi advised he inspected property today and
though in bad condition thought Council should consider the fact that those who now
occupy premises will need time to locate elsewhere and suggested a six months period
for this purpose. After considerable discussion in which Mrs. Mary Wooll addressed
the Council statin willingness to clean up building, make some improvements; that
they had put in new toilet last May; their takes had increased considerably and all
things considered could not understand why this frame building should be razed inas
much as there were other frame buildings in the City and requested Council to with-
hold action for two years at which time they contemplated erecting a new building.
mayor Hilton informed her it was because of substandard health, fire conditions, etc.,
that it was necessary to abate the building and not because it was a frame building;
Uouncilman Werder's motion that necessary steps be taken, proceedings be held up
until the first meeting in August_, owners and tenants be notified by registered mail
of such intended action, was seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried.
ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS FITZPATRICK BUILDING.
