It was moved by Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman <br />Holmquist that recommendation of City Manager be approved, and carried. <br />REPAIR OF SIDEWALK ADJACENT TO REDWOOD CREEK ON BROADWAY after considerable discussion <br />was placed on agenda on motion of Councilman Granger until next meeting thus giving <br />City Manager and City Engineer an opportunity to study situation further, was <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. In a letter to the Council notices had <br />been sent to owner of part of this property by City Manager. <br />M. E. BLANCHARD$ JEWELER, PETITION IN LETTER FOR PERMIT TO MAKE LOANS ON DIAMONDS AND <br />JEWELRY: after some discussion Councilman Granger moved request be placed on agenda <br />until next meeting and the City Attorney be in a position to report whether business JPMM <br />ordinance covered such operation. Councilman Britschgi thought request should be 1-4 <br />denied in a letter to Mr. Blanchard informing him to make formal application for <br />such operation. After further discussion Councilman Granger withdrew his motion and <br />Councilman Swift moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist that request be denied, by <br />letter from Clerk until applicant makes proper application and meets necessary <br />requirements. Motion carried. <br />E. R. JONES, b15 MADISON AVENUE, REQT.IES`T' FOR BUILDING PERMIT ON Lot 11, Block 19, Eagle <br />Kill Addition, corner Jackson and Fulton Street of a small house 18 x 32 by letter. <br />The location of this property was covered by the Interim Ordinance making it necessary <br />to petition Council 'before constructing additional building. Inasmuch as Building <br />Inspector Duncan had informed owner there was room on this lot for an attached or <br />detached house it was moved by Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Werder <br />that Building Inspector be authorized to issue permit. Motion carried. <br />ppq <br />EXTENSION OF 180 DAYS ON TWO PERMITS HELD BY REDWOOD CAB COMPANY WAS GRANTED on their <br />written request and was so moved by Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman <br />Werder, and carried. <br />LETTER FROM CIVIC LEAGUE OF IMPROVEMENT CLUBS AND ASSOCIATIONS ordered filed. <br />THEODORE P. EGAN & STEPHEN M. GASKILL FILED APPLICATION FOR NEW CAR PERMiT TO OPERATE <br />AT 2101 El Camino Real under name of Egan Car Company. This is a transfer from used <br />car dealer permit to new car dealer permit having been granted franchise to sell <br />British Austins. It was moved by Councilman Werder that new car dealer permit be <br />granted, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />FOX & CARSKADON PRESENT WRI`T'TEN REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO ERECT FOR SALE SIGN CORNER <br />Brewster and El Camino Real. This is to be a larger than usual real estate sign, <br />will be set back 30 or 40 feet from street so that it may be seen from both corners. <br />With the understanding that it would be removed if lot is sold Councilman Britschgi <br />moved that permission be granted to erect sign, seconded by Councilman Swift, and <br />carried. <br />CHAMBERLAIN SIGN CHh;STNUT AND BAYSHORE TO BE REMOVED. City Attorney Currie reported <br />copy of letter to Mr. Weltner, Palo Alto, from Mr. Chamberlain to the effect this <br />..di <br />sign would be removed or the City could do so after February lat. Councilman <br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, that City Attorney be authorized to <br />contact people involved and take proceedings to remove sign. Councilman Werder <br />stated he would vote against this as he thought sign should be removed within one <br />week. Mr. Currie would like time to contact Mr. Chamberlain who was out of the <br />City at present. Motion carried, Councilman Werder voting NO. <br />
