It was decided to adjourn this meeting to Monday April 12th at which <br />time the ordinance will be considered. <br />CLAIMS Nos. 3281 to 3383 inclusive in the amount of $19,597.9b were submitted for approval <br />having been checked in detail. WDGE <br />Clerk of the City of Redwood City <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />April 12th, 1948. 9:00 P. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen C. A. Britschgi, F. D. Granger, <br />H. E. Holmquist, George W. McNulty, A. V. Swift, Wm. M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton <br />and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Attorney C. B. Currie, City <br />Manager E. A. Rolison and Chief of Police C. L. Collins. <br />MAYOR HILTON announced the purpose of the meeting was to take up the matter of the <br />proposed new and used car ordinance and such other business as may properly come <br />before the meeting. <br />THE CITY CLERK RkAD COMMUNICATION FROM FRED A. HELFRECHT requesting City to remove Acacia <br />trees from front of his property stating that trees were damaging sidewalk and <br />possibility of public becoming injured by condition of same. After discussion Coun- <br />cilman Swift moved that the communication be referred to the Parks Department, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />COMMUNICATION READ FROM CITY MANAGER ROLISON RECOMMENDING THAT BIDS FOR HEAVY TRACTOR <br />LOADER EQUIP1;4ENT opened on March 19th be rejected explaining that none of the com- <br />panies at that time offered alternate bids on lighter equipment. Bids were invited <br />in a subsequent advertisement which were opened on April 12th at 3:00 o'clock. The <br />following bids were received on the original alternate 3/4 cu.yd. Tractor -Loader: <br />Douglass and Woodside <br />Reconditioned Allis Chalmers HD 7 45200.00 <br />Peterson Tractor & Equipment Company <br />New "Caterpillar" Diesel D 2 5954-00 <br />City Manager recommended accepting the bid of Peterson Tractor Company. Councilman <br />Britschgi stated he would vote against the purchase of this equipment as he was of <br />the opinion that Fordson Tractor Equipment Loader would do satisfactory work and <br />could be purchased at a greatly reduced price. City Manager explained that the <br />type of work in prospect in his opinion would require the heavier equipment and on <br />motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, City Manager's <br />recommendation was approved. Motion carried, Councilman Britschgi voting No. <br />BIDS FOR FIRE HOSE. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that <br />recommendation of Fire Chief Lodi and City Manager Rolison to purchase 1200 feet <br />of 1-1/2" fire hose at .54b per foot and 2000 feet of 2-1/2" fire hose at $1.01b <br />per foot in 50 foot lengths from Western Fire Equipment Company be approved. <br />Motion carried. <br />I .4a <br />a <br />i <br />8 <br />
