that affidavit of publication be filed, seconded -by Councilman Britschgi, and 3 9 <br />carried. On further motion of Councilman Granger ordinance was offered for adoption, <br />seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried on roll call. <br />PURCHASE OF MOTOR GRADER. On recommendation of City Attorney Currie, Councilman Werder <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, that the City Manager be authorized to <br />POW, request the sum of $10,533.90 for the motor grader in the form of a loan from the <br />Port of Redwood City with the understanding that the sum would be repaid within the <br />fiscal year of 1948-19+9; in the event this sum is not repaid during the aforementioned <br />fiscal year the City will not expect the Port to make any payment or payments toward <br />the redemption of and interest on Harbor Bonds. Motion carried. <br />the suggestions of Board of Review, which ordinance would change the name of the <br />Board, increase the number of members to five and other suggested revisions to be <br />ready for presentation at the next regular meeting. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Granger stated he.had been contacted by Recreation Commission for flag <br />pole donated to them by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and would like to have authority <br />to transfer pole from Corporation Yard to Recreation Center when building is dedi- <br />cated. Councilman Granger moved that Recreation Commission be notified that flag <br />pole can be transferred from Corporation Yard to Recreation Center, seconded by <br />Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />Councilman Granger raised the question of reason for delay of six or eight months <br />P"— before employees receive retirement pay and suggested that Clerk be authorized to <br />write a letter to the Retirement System and Councilman Werder suggested a copy of <br />letter be sent to League of California Cities to find out why employees have to <br />wait several months. It was moved by Councilman Granger that Clerk write letter <br />following suggestions, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried. <br />Councilman Werder stated that twenty years ago there was appointed a board known as <br />the Pulgas Mosquito Abatement Board and that Mr. Henry Beeger had been re -appointed <br />to serve on the board as a representative. The board consisted of one member from <br />each of four cities. It was moved by Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman <br />Holmquist, that Gity Clerk write for information to clarify status of such board, <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Holmquist inquired if City Manager Rolison had any information regarding <br />Chestnut Street signals. City Manager stated he was not present at the meeting of <br />e* Traffic Commission but it was his understanding that a signal would be erected <br />within the next six or eight weeks. It was also brought out that several "hot rod" <br />drivers had been arrested according to the City Manager and Chief of Police Collins. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Clerk be instructed to draft a letter to Mr. <br />r", and Mrs. Heiberg expressing the appreciation of the Council for their public <br />service and interest in lighting the cross during the. Easter week by means of their <br />portable generators. It was also suggested that a letter be written to Captain <br />Grant, County Engineer, stating our appreciation of his cooperation in blading the <br />parking area near the cross. Motion was seconded by Councilman McNulty, and carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi suggested dead end of Marshall Street being used for parking <br />space where the P. G. & E. tanks are if some of the holes were filled.
