reach approximately 405 dBA, resulting in intermittent interference with typical
existing residential and business actiities, as well as any on-site sensitive ses
developed during earlier phases of Precise Plar buildout. Construction noise
could eleate noise leels at some locatians (tte nearest residences) by more
than 5 dBA.
Mitigation: Mitigation 13-2. Reduce project demolition- and canstructioR-perivd noise
impacts on nearby residences (including the Broadway 7owers apartments and
the mobile home park near the proposed recycled water pipeline route) and
sensitie uses developecf on the deelopment site during earEisr phases (e.g.,
child care center} by incorporating conditians in project demolitior and
construction contract agreerrents that stipulate the following conventional
construction-period noise abatement measures:
Construction Plarr. Prepare a detailed construc#ion pla identii}Iing the schedule fvr
major noise-generating construct+on activities. The construction plan sha!! identify a
procedure far coordination with nearby existing and on-site newly constructed noise-
sensitive facilities so that constructio actiities can be scheduled to ninimize noise
dis#urbance.
■ Construction Scheduling. Ensure that noise-generating canstructior activity is limited to
between the hours of 7:00 AM to 8:Q0 PM, Monday through Friday, and prohibit any
construction during other hours which would case any increase in ambient noise levels
within a residential district. (Redwood City Municipa!Code Section 24.32)
Consfruction Equipment Mufflers and Maintenance. Equip all internal combustion
engine-driven equipment with irtake and exhaust mufflers that are in good condition and
appropriate for the equipment.
■ Equipment Lvcatiorrs. Lacate statiorary noise-genera#ing equipment as far as possible
from sersitie receptors when sensitie receptors adjoin or are near the construction
site.
■ Corrstrucfion Traffic. Route ai! construction #raffic to and from the canstruction sites via
designated truck roUtes where possibe. Prflhibit carstruction-reiafed heavy truck traffic
in residential areas where feasible.
■ Quref Equipment Selectian. Use quiet canstruction equipment, particularly air
compressors, wherever possible.
■ Temporary Barriers. Construct solid plywood fences around construction areas to shield
residences, operatioal businesses, or noise-sensitive land uses.
■ 7emporary Noise Blankets. Temporary noise control bianket barriers should be erected,
if necessary, aong building facades or around construction areas. This mitigation would
any be necessary if canflicts occurred which were irresofvable by proper scheduling.
(Noise canttal blanket barriers can be rented and quickly erected.)
■ Noise Disrurbance Coordinator. The City shall require projecf designatan af a "Noise
Disturbance Coordinator" who wouid be responsible for respanding ta any local
ATTY/RE50.2898/PC RE50 RECONlMENDING S7ANFORD EIR tER71FICATION
REV:48-15-13 Vli
Page 24 pf 5fi
