6.1.A. - Page 9 <br /> anniversary of serving residents of San Mateo County and they recently purchased and <br /> moved into a stand-alone building in San Mateo that is much better for their clients <br /> because it is centrally located near public transit and they will also save funds monthly <br /> by owning the building. She shared some statistical information on the increased need <br /> for their services including their crisis lines; providing hotel vouchers; providing <br /> emergency shelter from domestic violence; and, about 26 percent of their shelter <br /> residents were from Redwood City last year. <br /> Arne Croce, Executive Director of Peninsula Family Service, said they are a San Mateo <br /> County nonprofit that has provided families in need with services for over 63 years and <br /> he thanked Council for the second year of funding that is essential for the wide range of <br /> activities that they provide at the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC). He submitted a <br /> brochure (on file) detailing the services they provide as an organization. <br /> M/S Gee/Ira to close the public hearing. Motion passed by unanimously by voice <br /> vote. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> 1. Adopt a resolution to approve the fiscal year 2013-14 Annual Action Plan (Action <br /> Plan) and authorize the City Manager to execute and file documents related to the <br /> Action Plan for submittal to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development <br /> (HUD). <br /> RESOLUTION No. 15275 APPROVING ANNUAL ACTION PLAN OF THE <br /> CONSOLIDATED PLAN (2013-2014) AND APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL <br /> ASSISTANCE (COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT AND HOME <br /> INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP FUNDS); CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY HAS <br /> FOLLOWED ITS ADOPTED CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN; AND AUTHORIZING <br /> EXECUTION AND FILING OF ALL DOCUMENTS PERTAINING THERETO (FISCAL <br /> YEAR 2013-2014) <br /> M/S Gee/Ira to adopt the resolution. Motion carries unanimously by electronic vote <br /> 7-0. <br /> 2. By motion, authorize the City Manager to execute funding agreements with <br /> organizations identified in the Action Plan after FY13-14 HUD grant agreements for <br /> CDBG and HOME funds are received. <br /> M/Seybert/Foust to adopt the second staff recommendation. Motion carries <br /> unanimously by electronic vote 7-0. MINUTE ORDER 13-078 <br /> A Council Member addressed the various speakers thanking them, the public, the <br /> Committee Members and all the organizations present for their work and support. <br /> Another Council Member thanked the Committee and staff noting that this is not easy <br /> with everyone being deserving with heart-wrenching needs, and that a tremendous <br /> amount of work is done to transform lives. All the Council Members thanked the staff, <br /> with some mentioning Ms. Coffman and Ms. Chin by name, the Committee, and the <br /> community partners.
