7.1.A. - Page 8 <br />Andy Frish thanked Council for the opportunity to speak and concurred with Ms. <br />Gasparini on what she said. He opined that the developer had been working with the <br />community and with the City. However, Mr. Fitch is concerned with the continued delay <br />of this project. <br />Lilia Ledezma, long time resident of Redwood City, thanked Council and staff for their <br />work on analyzing the Pete Harbor's project. She also thanked Paula Uccelli for her <br />decisions and Mr. Paul Powers for his development. She appreciated the projects of <br />One Marina and the future development of Pete's Harbor. Lastly, Ms. Ledesma said <br />that she hopes that the project starts as soon as possible, but understands if it goes <br />back to Planning. She wanted to let Council know that she supports them. <br />Susan Uccelli, niece of the late Pete Uccelli, spoke about what was currently missing at <br />Pete's Harbor, such as a public walk way and bike path, and what will be at Pete's <br />Harbor if the development is approved by Council. She stated that this project will have <br />more public access and opined that it will look better. She further opined that the <br />developers have worked with the community. Ms. Uccelli said that this (project) needs <br />to have an ending. She further thanked Council for giving her the right to speak and <br />advocated for everyone to at least stand up for the pledge of allegiance. <br />Linda Levenbury opined that there was nothing in the development for people with <br />disabilities. She stated that they won't be able to get there and enjoy the area. She <br />urged Council to accept staff's recommendation to go to back to the Planning <br />Commission. Ms. Levenbury also added that this project was for everyone, not just for <br />the few. <br />Dave Amann asked Council to not delay the project. He mentioned the many ways <br />people will benefit, such as having jobs and obtaining more revenue for children's <br />education, libraries, the police department, fire department, and the parks and <br />recreation department. He further opined that 411 families want to be in Redwood City, <br />and that Council has waited too long to accommodate the few who oppose the project. <br />He said that the pros for this development outweigh the cons. <br />M/S Seybert/Gee to close the Public Hearing. Motion carried by unanimous voice <br />vote. <br />One Council Member asked whether the decision Council made tonight depended on <br />what the State Lands Commission will do or not do, specifically Council received letters <br />from the State Lands and there were still some unresolved issues. Dr. Bell addressed <br />the question and said the letters from the State Lands Commission dealt with the leases <br />from the current property owners. Before he went any further, he reiterated to Council <br />on what they had done at the January meeting; Council agreed to delay the appeal to <br />May 6 in that the goal being that the developer and State Lands Commission will work <br />out some issues. So that on May 6, Council will know what decision to make. <br />Continuing on, Dr. Bell said that since that time and towards the end of April, State <br />Lands will rely on the City staff's EIR work. State Lands will be looking for specific items <br />in the EIR and staff needs to go back and analyze the EIR and addendum to make sure <br />CITY COUNCIL May 6, 2013 <br />MEETING MINUTES PAGE 7 <br />
