The staff response to community concerns about <br />the existence of mercury from old mines was only to say the cultural resources <br />assessment (Appendix Ey does not find any mines were operational on the building site. <br />Additionally, an abandoned drum is visible in Lot 19, In an area of seepage,, in direct <br />contact with ponded water. The rusting drum is not mentioned In the EIR, the Phase I <br />ESA or in the geologic reports. <br />Prior to EIR certification, an environmental assessment Is necessary under regulatory <br />oversight to ensure potential health Impacts to construction workers and future <br />residents are addressed and mitigated if necessary.
