<br /> 4) Future Directions <br /> Director Church described proposed projects: owner participation process for the <br /> corner of Jefferson and El Camino Real; the Mezes Plaza office/retail project at Main <br /> and Broadway; the expanded storettont improvement program, and the 101 corridor. <br /> Bill Carlson, Redevelopment Agency consultant on the auto mall project, described <br /> impact of auto sales on cities on the peninsula and trends in auto sales and marketing. <br /> C. Questions ttom Board, Commission and Chamber Sub-Committee <br /> In response to questions ttom the Planning Commissioners, Mr. Carlson identified the <br /> preferred sites for an auto mall or auto clusters, emphasizing tteeway visibility as the <br /> primary concern. <br /> John Svoboda, Redevelopment Specialist, described how the Agency and the <br /> Chamber of Commerce worked together on economic development strategies. <br /> Director Church further described the 20% redevelopment set aside funds for <br /> affordable housing at Wyndham and possibly Rolison Road, Maple and El Camino <br /> Real. <br /> Housing Coordinator Jones-Thomas described the first time homebuyers program <br /> and the Main Middlefield project, and announced that the models were there in the <br /> Library Community Room for the Directors review. <br /> Director Church discussed future directions: joint projects with the County, perhaps <br /> in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood; the AB 1290 Implementation Plan; the civic <br /> center and the Main Middlefield Housing Project relationship to the new City Hall; and <br /> attracting downtown retail tenants. Director Church distributed a booklet to the Board, <br /> Citizens Guide to Redevelopment <br /> Director Buchan advised that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors had <br /> already prepared a redevelopment plan for the North Fair Oaks neighborhood, and <br /> suggested that the Redevelopment Agency staff contact Supervisor Barrales to pursue <br /> a joint project.
