8.B. - Page 110 <br /> Redwood City, California <br /> June 201 1 <br /> 1 This Tree Protection Plan is to be included as a detail on the final site plan used for <br /> construction. <br /> 2 A Certified Arborist, Registered Consulting Arborist or Registered Professional <br /> Forester is to be retained to act as the Proiect Arborist to monitor any construction <br /> activities that may impact the health of protected trees at the site. <br /> 3 Supplemental Water <br /> 3.1 Prior to construction activities, the protected trees should be watered. <br /> 3.2 Supplemental watering is to be provided by the contractor as determined by <br /> the Project Arborist. <br /> 4 Prior to the start of grading and construction, those assessed trees determined to be <br /> moderate or low in suitability for preservation are to be flagged for preservation or <br /> painted with a red "X" for removal. The trees in questions are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, <br /> and 10. Tree 9 was rated high and is to be preserved. Trees 1 and 3 were <br /> recommended for removal but authorization from the City was not received at the <br /> time this report was prepared. <br /> 5 All preserved trees are to be checked for equipment and building clearance and <br /> professionally pruned if needed. Please refer to the item 13-Tree Contractors. <br /> 6 Prior to the start of grading and construction, a minimum six inch layer of clean <br /> wood chips is to be installed within the dripline of protected trees. <br /> 7 Prior to the start of grading and construction activities, temporary protective <br /> barriers consisting of chain link fencing six (6) feet high and attached to 1.5 inch <br /> diameter metal posts driven two feet into the ground, spaced no more than 10 feet <br /> apart are to be placed one foot beyond the dripline or at limits to be determined in <br /> the field by the Project Arborist. <br /> 8 Weather proof warning signs are to be posted on the tree protection barriers.
