Approval of Final 1995-96 Redevelopment Budget (404) <br /> (Director Buchan left the meeting at this time, 9:27 P.M., due to an illness in her family, <br /> but expressed her support for the Redevelopment Agency Budget as submitted.) <br /> Redevelopment Agency Director Church presented the Proposed 1995/96 <br /> Redevelopment Agency budget and described the requests made by the Board at the July <br /> 15, 1995, budget session: Leave in $500,000 for property acquisition along Rolison Road, <br /> $200,000 for retail anchor program, $55,000 retention for an auto center and remove <br /> $80,000 listed as Assistance to Schools; Added to the budget by the Board was up to <br /> $13,000 for a matching grant for Carrington Hall, $50,000 to Canada College for <br /> economic development center in Redwood City, and $80,000 to Youth and Family <br /> Assistance and OICW. <br /> Director Steinfeld expressed her opposition to the proposed budget stating it involved too <br /> much debt, contained no plan to raise revenues, was not balanced, and included plans to <br /> issue new bonds and new debt. <br /> In response to Chairman pro tem Hartnett's questions, Agency Director Church <br /> advised the proposed budget was balanced as presented and would not need bonds to <br /> balance it as suggested. <br /> Chairman pro tem Hartnett asked if anyone would like to speak to this issue. <br /> John Mooney, 980 Pleasant Hill Road, Redwood City, spoke about the Agency's program <br /> that provides loans to people to fix up their homes.
