Public Hearing - Interim Hearing on the Agency's adopted Five-Year Implementation
Plan to provide the Agency Board with a status report on what the Agency has
accomplished, and what projects are currently under way. (405)
1. Staff Report:
REPORT: Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Church, January 12, 1998
Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Church reported that legislation passed in
1994 required the Redevelopment Agency to adopt a Five-Year Implementation Plan, and
described it as an advisory document, similar to the General Plan. Director Church said
the Plan allows the Redevelopment Agency to "look forward over a period of time" rather
than tie its visions to one-year budgets. He explained that the law requires Redevelopment
Agencies to hold a hearing at the mid-point of the five-year term of this plan. Director
Church advised that the Staff Report lists the status of the Five Year Implementation Plan
projects, adding that they are progressing well, and new ones have been added.
In response to a question from Director Leipzig, Executive Director Church described
Menlo Honda's pursuit of appropriate sites in Redwood City. He indicated that attracting
and keeping important businesses in Redwood City is the reason the Redevelopment
Agency is proposing the "Fourth Amendment Sub-Area."
2.
