2�ravi��nmesatal.Analysi.r <br /> The propased project would not require new recreational facilities or expansion o£existing faciliries. <br /> The approved One Marina develapment to the north includes prot�isions for the construction of new <br /> recxeational park facilities in the area (I'eninsula I'ark Precise PZan,2005). <br /> 'Tl�e City has plans to use Redwood Creek as a new source of water-oriented recreadonal amenit�es <br /> (canoes,�ayaks, etc) and is currently investigating requirements for a comprehensive plan fox <br /> providing boat access to Downtown via Redwood Creek (City of Redwood City,2011). The <br /> proposed praject would be consistent with such plans,but would not�equire theix implementation. <br /> (Less than Significant Impact) <br /> 2.76 TRANSPORTATiON AND TRAFFIC <br /> The transportarion network in the project area contains roadways, bikeways,and alternative modes of <br /> transportarion. US 101 is the major freeway in the project area,which travels north to south. The <br /> praject area also has local roads, coIlector roads,and arterial roads including Veteran's Bou.levaxd, <br /> �'hipple Avenue, and Main Street. Bair Islana Road,Convention Way,and East Bavshote Road are <br /> all Zocal roads within the vicinity o£the project area. <br /> T"he joint-use path would connect the Bayfront axea to the Narth Main 5treet corridor and the <br /> Downtown area. The proposed Class I pedestrian and bicycle path promotes use of alternarive <br /> modes of transportation. An existing Class I bike path (Bay Trail) is located ta the northwest of the <br /> project area on Bair Island Road and an existing Class II bike Zane on Maa.n Street to the south of the <br /> pYOject axea (see Figure 1-1 in the Pxoject Description). The City General Plan classifies the <br /> fo�lowing types of bike facilities similar to that of Caltrans {City of Reawood City,2011): <br /> Clas.r I Bike�vay (Bike Path): designated for the exclusive use for bicyclists and pedestrians with <br /> vehicle-pedestrian cross-flow minimized. <br /> Cla.rs,�I Bakeaa�ay(Bike Lane): striped lane designated for the use of bicycles on a st�eet. Vehicle <br /> parking and vehicle-pedest�ian cross-flow are pexinitted at certain locarians. <br /> Clas.c III Bikeavay (Bike Aosrte): raute designated by signs ar pavement markings for bicyclists <br /> within a vehicular travel lane of a roadway (i.e., shaxed use}. <br /> Alternative znodes of transportation in the project a�ea incluae bus and tra.in setvice. The SamTrans <br /> has routes and bus stops located along Veterans Boulevaxd.
