?nvironrrlental Analysis
volumes and esring LOS thesholds are not ava.ilable far local xoads in tlxe project axea such as Bair
Island Road and East Bapshore Raad. Typically, traffic volumes on local roads are significandy lower
than that of axterial roads,collector roads, expressway, or freeway volums• Given the small number
of constncrion workers needed for the project axea,pxoject costruction«'od not be anticipated to
adversely impact the local roads within the area. Therefoxe, the proposeci pzoject construcuon would
not individually or cunularively exceed the LOS thresholds for a:ny roada'segment. Therefore,the
impacts would be less than significant. {Less than Signit"icant Irnpact)
cResult in a cl2ange Yrl att ttaffrc patterns,mcluditlg either arr increase in ttc levels ot a
change rn locatiar2 tliat tesults iu substantial safety risks?
The proposed project would be L5 miles away from the San Carlos Airport,and the ground level
facilities would have no impact to air traffic. {No Impact}
d) Substaritrallyirlcrease bazards due to a desigrl feature(e.g., sharp curves ox dangerous
intersecttons) otrlcampatthle uses (e.g., farYn egu.tpment)?
The City would compy with all applicable design guidelines contained in the Redwood City Zoning
Ordinance and City codes in constructing the joint-use path to ensure traffic,pedestrian,and bicyclist
safety. As discussed above, except for Convenrion Way, the proposed Class I joint-use path would
avoid cross trafic between pedestrian/bicyclist and vehicles, thus reducing the potential hazards.
The impact of the single crossing at Convenrian Wap would be less than significant. Tetefore, the
praposed project would xeduce any traffic hazaxds impacts to less than sigruficant level. (Less than
Significant Impact)
e)Result itinadequate emetgerlcy access?
The proposed j oist-use path would be able to accommodate one emexgency velucle (maximum
weight of S tons) ox police vehicle in the event an emergency. Thus,the proosed project would not
restrict emergency access in the project area. (No Impaet)
 Corlfltct with adopted polrcres,plans, or programs regarding public ts'aristt, bicycle, or
pedestrtan facilitres, or othetwtse decrease the performance ot safety ofsuch facltties?
The proposed project would encourage use of alternarive modes of transportation. By connecting
the Bayfrant area to Downtown, the project would enable residents of Ore Marina and ather
development north of US 101 to have pedestrian and bicycle access to eJCisring aternative
transportation services Downtown,including SamTrans Bus routes,A/C bus routes,or Caltrain.
The existing Class I and Class II bike facilities on Bair Island Road and te existing bike facilities on
Iiain Street wauld remain accessible during construction. Te proposed poject would supporthe
adopted plans,policies,and pxograms related to altemative transportarion and axe expected to result
in a decreased use of roadways and decreased traffic in tne project atea. Thexefore,the project
impacts to txansportation services would be beneficial. {Na Impaet}
2-63 US 901 Pecle.rtzan Undercro.r.ring arad Bair
I.rlandKoad Stosa Dragra PumStatian Praject
