Any aquatic habitat and aquatic species will therefore only be addressed briefly in the project's
Natural Environment Study.
Subtask 5.3.2— Wetland Study
Waterbodies in the project vicinity include Redwood Creek, a diked marshland, a salt pond, and
various unnamed drainages. The unnamed drainages may be hydrologically connected to, and
influenced by, San Francisco Bay tidal activity.
CONSULTANT will delineate wetlands and other waters of the U.S. that are within and directly
adjacent to footprint of project construction. It is assumed for this scope that the delineation will
be limited to the drainages along Maple Street and US 101 and culverts that cross roadways in
the construction footprint.
The delineation will be conducted in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
(USACE) 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and any applicable USACE-approved regional
supplement to the 1987 Manual. The onsite delineation will include a field survey during which
datapoints will be collected and wetland and/or water features mapped using GPS technology.
CONSULTANT will prepare a Jurisdictional Delineation Report for Caltrans to submit to the
USACE. Following submittal of the delineation, CONSULTANT will be available for up to one
field meeting, if necessary, with the USACE. Changes to the delineation (if any) will be made,
and a final delineation will be provided to Caltrans.
It is anticipated that any work in or near the drainages or culverts would affect a minimal area,
and that the project would qualify for a Nationwide Permit authorization and not require an
Individual Permit. CONSULTANT assumes that the specific type and location of mitigation
would be developed separate from this scope as part of the project's permitting and final design.
Subtask 5.3.3—Natural Environment Study
The US 101/Woodside Road interchange area is highly disturbed and developed, with limited
habitat in landscaped and ruderal areas along roadways. Special-status plant and animal species
could be present in the vicinity of Redwood Creek, nearby marshlands and salt ponds, and
unnamed drainages, including the drainage along Maple Street, and special-status birds and bats
could use roadway bridge structures in the project area for roosting or nesting. CONSULTANT
will map and characterize wildlife habitat in the project area as well as conduct a tree survey
within the footprint of project construction. CONSULTANT will prepare a Natural Environment
Study (NES) in accordance with current Caltrans guidelines. The studies and documentation will
be coordinated with Caltrans staff biologists.
Mitigation will be proposed based on development of conceptual-level replacement measures for
habitat areas. The development of detailed plans and specifications for any necessary mitigation
is not included in this scope of services.
Task 5.4-Cultural Resource Studies
The goal of this task is to meet the requirements for cultural resources pursuant to the
Programmatic Agreement between FHWA, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation,
California State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and Caltrans regarding compliance with
ATTY/AGR/2013.164/URS PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGR
REV:10-15-13 VR
_f . ar 40 of 78
