Also address integrity.} <br /> WELLESLEY PARK <br /> The Wellesley Land and Impro�ement Company, a San Francisca-based corporaiion who marketed pastoral li�ing to wealthy San <br /> Franciscans, subdivided the Wellesley Park Tract in 1889.Ad�ertising country life within commuting distance,Wellesley Park, <br /> consisted of 1F�acres,which,a�cording ta the promotional prochure,were"luxuriantly dotted with umprageous white oaks and[had]a <br /> fall of fifty-faur feet from the western to eastern boundary."Located just east of Redwoad City,the pre�iously undeveloped land had <br /> heen known as the Richardson Tract before it was acquired by the Wellesley Land Impra�ement Company and had been"long <br /> regarded as one of the most desirable pla�es to li�e in the�alley."The residential tract was originally de�eloped as something af a <br /> residential park that was"highly impro�ed and af a strictly exclusi�e nature,"not unlike the earlier park-like suburban de�elapments in <br /> the eastern states.The Land Impravement Company erected a prominent stone entry gate at Wellesley Avenue and 5an Jose Road <br /> (now EI Gamino Road}and a Gate Ladge erected sauth of the stone entrance that was to be the Park superintendent's residence. <br /> ❑riginally,Avondale,Wellesley{naw Edgewood]and Claremont Avenues led from 5an Jose Road to the main entrance at Wellesley <br /> Park Grescent.
