7.1.F. - Page 9 <br /> APPENDIX A <br /> INFORMATION ABOUT REDWOOD CITY'S <br /> WASTEWATER SYSTEM <br /> City of Redwood City <br /> The City of Redwood City is located in the northern part of Silicon Valley approximately 25 <br /> miles south of San Francisco, roughly midway between San Francisco and San Jose. The City is <br /> the county seat of San Mateo County. The City's economy is well diversified, with a strong <br /> industrial and commercial base, including many "high-tech" companies such as Oracle <br /> Corporation. The City encompasses approximately 19 square miles within its corporate limits and <br /> has a population of approximately 79,074. <br /> Form of Government <br /> The City was incorporated in 1867 and became a charter city in 1929, under the charter <br /> laws of the State of California. The City is governed by a seven-member City Council whose <br /> members are elected at large to staggered terms of four years. The City Council selects a mayor <br /> from among its members. The City Council <br /> appoints a City Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of <br /> the City. The current City Manager is Robert Bell. <br /> City Leadership <br /> • Jeffrey Gee was elected a Councilmember for the City of Redwood City in 2009, and <br /> currently serves as Mayor. Mr. Gee has served as the past Vice-Mayor, Chair and a <br /> Commissioner of the Redwood City Planning Commission, and is a past Committee <br /> Member of the City's Architectural Review Committee. <br /> • Rosanne Foust is a past Mayor and current Vice-Mayor of the City. Ms. Foust holds a <br /> Master's degree in Public Administration, Bachelor's degree in International Studies and <br /> Economics and has completed Executive Management training at UCLA and Stanford <br /> University. Ms. Foust is President & CEO of the San Mateo County Economic <br /> Development Association, which was founded in 1953 to promote business issues that <br /> enhance and sustain the economic prosperity of San Mateo County and the greater Bay <br /> region. <br /> • Alicia C. Aguirre is a member of the City Council. Ms. Aguirre has also served as a <br /> Trustee and the President of the Redwood City Elementary School Board. She serves <br /> A-1 <br />
