Council Member Ira amended his motion to include the recommendation to look at the possibility of combining the Maple and Main Street rail crossings, and that Redwood City would like to look at the broader issue and to request more time to study and analyze it. Council Member Ruskin, maker of the second approved the amended motion wording. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote. MINUTE ORDER 98-265 B. Introduction of Ordinance Adding Sections 18.234 through 18.243 to the Redwood City Code Regarding the Requirements for Street Improvements (301) Community Development Services Manager Patterson reported this ordinance provides for the planned extension and repair of utility and street improvements when new buildings are constructed, installment of tenant improvements or when substantial remodel occurs upon building permit issuance where there is addition of 500 Square feet to commercial or residential or tenant improvements of 50 percent or more of footage in commercial building. Adopt Resolution Authorizing Negotiation of Purchase for Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, and Mobile Data Terminal System, from Lucent Technologies for Police Department (304) Police Captain Switzer presented a report to Council regarding the Police Department's receipt of $1,188,643 in federal grant funds to purchase an automated computer aided dispatch, mobile data terminals and records management system, developed in consortiwn with San Carlos, Belmont, Foster City and Hillsborough.
