01/27/2014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15316 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY (1) APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br /> EXECUTE THE COMMERCIAL LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br /> SAN MATEO COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY FOR PARKING WITHIN THE SEQUOIA STATION <br /> PARKING GARAGE, AND (2) AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br /> ISSUE PARKING PERMITS TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE SEQUOIA <br /> STATION PARKING GARAGE <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("Redwood City") provides a supply of public <br /> parking available for use by tenants of downtown properties that do not have adequate <br /> on-site parking to meet modern office standards because of the historic nature of the <br /> building or other design constraints; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Middlefield Lot has recently been removed from the City's parking <br /> supply due to development, and Redwood City is interested in providing additional <br /> parking available to the public for permit parking; and <br /> WHEREAS, Redwood City and San Mateo County Transit District (the "District") <br /> desire to enter into a commercial lease agreement, attached hereto as Exhibit A <br /> ("Sequoia Station Garage Lease Agreement"), wherein the City leases 75 parking <br /> spaces within the Sequoia Station Parking Garage from the District; and <br /> WHEREAS, Redwood City acquired the 75 parking spaces within the Sequoia <br /> Station Parking Garage for the purpose of making such permit parking available to the <br /> public. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The City Council hereby approves the Sequoia Station Garage Lease <br /> Agreement between the District and Redwood City, attached hereto as Exhibit A, and <br /> authorizes and directs the City Manager to execute the Sequoia Station Garage Lease <br /> Agreement, subject to any minor, clarifying and conforming changes approved by the <br /> City Attorney.
