Perform related duties as assigned. <br />Job Related Qualifications <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles and practices of city and regional planning. <br />Recent developments, current literature, and informational sources in the field of planning <br />and zoning. <br />Research methods applicable to assigned work. <br />Laws underlying general plans, environmental review, zoning, and land division. <br />Principles of organization, administration, and personnel management. <br />Ability to: <br />Research complex planning issues; prepare technical reports. <br />Evaluate meeting preparation material; prepare agendas for a variety of planning -related <br />committees. <br />Provide technical guidance to subordinate staff. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, other City <br />personnel, and outside agencies. <br />Meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job performance. <br />Experience and Training Guidelines <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required <br />knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities <br />would be: <br />Experience: Two years of responsible experience in a city planning department. <br />Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with <br />major course work in city or regional planning, architecture, or a related field considered <br />useful in city planning. <br />License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's <br />license. <br />Principal Planner <br />Consultant will also provide a Principal Planner approved by the City's Planning Manager <br />on an as -needed basis during the term of this Agreement to assist with larger, complex <br />planning project management. The Contract Principal Planner, will process planning <br />entitlements and long range planning projects including but not limited to: general plan <br />and zoning code amendments; design review; conditional use permits and manage City <br />consultants for the preparation of Mitigated Negative Declaration and Environmental <br />Impact Reports, assigned by the Community Development Director or Planning Manager <br />consistent with the duties of the Redwood City Principal Planner job description provided <br />below.
