PUBLIC HEARING(S) — None.
9. STAFF REPORT(S)
A. An Ordinance Adding Article XI (Recycling and Salvaging of
Construction and Demolition Debris) to Chapter 9 (Buildings) of the
City's Municipal Code
Mr. Bill Ekern, Community Development Director, noted that this is a Draft Ordinance
being brought for guidance from the City Council before the final ordinance is brought
back. This is to set a construction debris goal of 60 percent. This provides the ability to
collect a charge to ensure contractors do follow through. Cal Green requires the
recycling of construction debris and this locally provides the ability to track it and
recover staff costs.
A Council Member stated that the goals of this ordinance are laudable and the targets
seem reasonable. He asked how other cities are doing with those targets.
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL October 21, 2013
MEETING MINUTES PAGE 4
