Vice Mayor Gee announced other initiatives: <br /> May 9th is Bike to Work Day and several Redwood City businesses are competing in <br /> that and there is the "Catch a ride and roll" program from April 1 st through May 31 <br /> where one can take a pledge to take public transit and be eligible to win a prize every <br /> week with more information being available on the Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance <br /> website. <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> Dr. Bell announced that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department <br /> has been selected as Playful City USA Community again for 2013. He also said that <br /> CALPERS changes in actuarial assumptions will increase PERS rates significantly and <br /> staff will look at what it may potentially mean to the City and this will be part of the <br /> budget discussion in June. <br /> Council Member Pierce announced that May 2nd is the Redwood City Education <br /> Foundation's 30th birthday and she invited people to please send them a birthday gift or <br /> check. She also announced that they will be recognizing Ron Delaine on Friday, May <br /> 3rd.
