Public Comment <br /> Beth Mostovoy, representing Arts Redwood City and Art on the Square, said she is <br /> impressed with the plan and thanked the Task Force and everyone for creating it. She <br /> opined that this plan will make the City a better and more beautiful destination. <br /> M/S Seybert/Ira to adopt the Public Master Art Plan. Motion carries unanimously by <br /> electronic vote 7-0. <br /> 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> Council Member Pierce said that Art Jensen is retiring and Nicole Sandula will be his <br /> replacement. She said that she and Council Member Foust sit on the Bair Island Task <br /> Force and she provided an update by asking staff to work with Mike Giari and Ellen <br /> Johnk on getting Council input for a future report on potential needs and perhaps <br /> possible reconfiguration of a future taskforce and how waterfront properties and flood <br /> control might be addressed with dredge materials. She suggested one potential name <br /> would be the Redwood City Port Harbor Task Force. Council Member Foust said that <br /> dredging is important for the future economic viability of the Port and is a real focus <br /> because of how some ships can only come in and out with half filled ships. <br /> Council Member Bain noted that the Council Connection is a great publication the City <br /> Manager distributes and he wants to extend the LED energy savings on street lights. <br /> This is a great opportunity for energy savings in this area and saves us money and he <br /> would like to invest in and expand the new lighting program. <br /> Vice Mayor Gee highlighted a couple of upcoming events: Blues Festival and Barbeque <br /> that benefit the Police Activities League downtown this weekend and the August 3rd <br /> Bay Area Gardeners Foundation scholarship dinner at 6 p.m. <br /> Mayor Aguirre said that as an elected official, she sits on the Metropolitan <br /> Transportation Commission (MTC) and the One Bay Area Plan has been approved by <br /> MTC and ABAG (Association of Bay Area Governments). She also shared a thank you <br /> note from an East Palo Alto Council Member regarding the Fourth of July celebration. <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> Dr. Bell said they have had success with the pilot LED program and the Assistant City <br /> Manager will look at how to make it an accelerated program with the Environmental <br /> Initiatives Subcommittee and circle back sometime in September. <br /> Council Member Pierce added that Art of the Square is also this weekend at the Blues <br /> Festival.
