5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Swearing in of Library Board Appointee Mara Bravo Gonzalez - Silvia <br /> Vonderlinden, City Clerk <br /> Library Board appointee Mara Bravo Gonzalez was sworn in by City Clerk <br /> Vonderlinden. Mayor Aguirre thanked Ms. Bravo Gonzalez for her willingness to serve <br /> on that Board. <br /> B. Presentation - Update on 6-Alarm Structure Fire at 531 Woodside Road <br /> & Future Pilot Program for Response Configuration - Stan Maupin, <br /> Deputy Fire Chief <br /> Deputy Fire Chief Maupin provided a detailed update on events and work being done in <br /> regards to the 6-Alarm Structure Fire and spoke about the future pilot program for <br /> response configuration (presentation on file). <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> San Carlos Mayor Bob Grassilli expressed thanks to the City of Redwood City, which <br /> included the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Department staff, the City Manager and <br /> his staff and others for their work in making the agreement for fire services happen. He <br /> opined that regionalization of services is the future. <br /> Mayor Aguirre thanked Mayor Grassilli and noted that Redwood City is also sharing a <br /> (fire) truck with San Carlos as well. <br /> Nereyda Guzman spoke on behalf of the North Fair Oaks Community Festival and said <br /> she is one of the finalists for the Queen Festival Scholarship and a high school graduate <br /> and intern with plans to attend Notre Dame De Namur in the fall. She said the North <br /> Fair Oaks Community Festival will take place on Sunday, August 25, 2013, beginning <br /> with the parade at 11:OOam and going to 6:OOpm and people can support them by <br /> purchasing raffle tickets online. <br /> Robert Chansler, representing the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival as a Board <br /> Member, invited the community to their free production in the park at Sequoia High <br /> School, which begins August 10th for 3 weekends. He expressed pride that this is their <br /> second year, and thanked people, like those who provided financial support, for coming <br /> together to make it happen. He hopes these free productions will continue in the future. <br /> Janet Borgens expressed thanks to the community and various City and County staff for <br /> their work regarding the fire on Woodside Road, this included Chris Beth, Teri Chin, Fire <br /> and Police Department staff, chaplains, mental hea�th, Melissa Platte, Bruce Utecht, <br /> and others. She said everyone did a fantastic and amazing job in getting people <br /> together, calm, and treated each person with dignity and kindness. She also thanked <br /> Safeway, Kmart, Starbucks, Salvation Army, and various "mom and pop dinner houses/ <br /> stores" that offered whatever was needed to help with this disaster.
