<br /> . . . . . .. <br /> Mayor Howard presented a City Retirement Plaque to Mrs. Piulle for her 14 years of <br /> - distinguished service on the Civic Cultural Commission. Mayor Howard said that the <br /> community has benefited greatly ITom Mrs. Piulle's hard work, dedication, and love for <br /> Redwood City. She said that Mrs. Piulle was instrumental in bringing a unique and <br /> beautiful tapestry to the entry way of Red Morton Community Center; helped organize the <br /> time capsule, which has been placed inside our new City Hall and will be opened in 50 <br /> years; was instrumental in bringing wonderful pieces of artwork in front of the Police <br /> Station; and has served as a volunteer in our schools, theaters, and many other activities. <br /> Mayor Howard stated that Mrs. Piulle will still be active in Redwood City activities and <br /> has applied to serve on the Grand Jury. <br /> Tamara Piulle introduced her husband, Walter, and thanked him for his support during <br /> her time on the Civic Cultural Commission. She also thanked the City Council, staff, and <br /> all the people in Redwood City. She recognized Civic Cultural Commissioner Barbara <br /> Britschgi and Staff Liaison for the Civic Cultural Commission Corinne Centeno for their <br /> support. Mrs. Piulle said that it had been a pleasure to work with the Civil Cultural <br /> Commissioners, and be a part of the growth of cultural activities in Redwood City during <br /> the past 14 years. She said that she would continue to serve Redwood City in some <br /> capacity. <br /> MEMO 1/13/98 <br /> B. Presentation of City Plaque to Gerald Chandler upon the occasion of his retirement from <br /> the San Mateo Mosquito Abatement District Board, representing the City of Redwood City <br /> - with great distinction for eleven years (207,211) <br /> Mayor Howard presented former Council Member Gerald Chandler with a City <br /> Retirement Plaque in recognition of his distinguished service on the Board of Directors of <br /> the Mosquito Abatement District for 11 years, and most recently as its President. She <br /> expressed appreciation for his support of Redwood Family House, a shelter for homeless <br /> families in Redwood City, which serves the community very well. She added that Mr. <br /> Chandler had moved to San Carlos and, therefore, could no longer represent Redwood City <br /> on the Mosquito Abatement Board. <br /> Mr. Chandler stated that this was the culmination of 31 years of continuous service to the <br /> City of Redwood City, and he had enjoyed every moment. Mr. Chandler described his <br /> work on transportation and housing issues, and his work with the Port.
