• <br /> " (6) Excessively long and straight or steep <br /> streets in residential areas shall be avoided. <br /> "Section 30. 119 . Street Naming. Streets which are <br /> continuations of existing streets shall bear the names of <br /> those streets . Names of new streets shall be submitted to <br /> the Planning Director who shall submit them to postal author- <br /> ities and to the Fire Chief for review to avoid duplication <br /> of names , within the areas served by the safety services <br /> and others . Final approval of all street names shall be <br /> the responsibility of the Planning Director. <br /> "Section 30 . 120 . Pedestrian/Bicycle Paths . A subdivider <br /> shall be required to dedicate and develop pedestrian/bicycle <br /> paths when necessitated by traffic safety and for the purpose <br /> of providing safe access to schools , parks , playgrounds , <br /> and other community facilities. Such paths shall be a <br /> minimum of ten (10) feet. At the option of the City, <br /> pedestrian/bicycle paths may be combined with other easements <br /> or rights-of-way when such easements are compatible with the <br /> purposes of this chapter. <br /> "Section 30 . 121. Street Lighting. Street lighting <br /> shall be appropriate to the proposed intensity of use of the <br /> street facility and the character of the area to be served. <br /> The amount of street lighting shall be consistent with <br /> principles of energy conservation and optimum public safety , <br /> and shall be approved by the Director of Public Works . <br /> "Section 30 . 122 . Street Trees and Plantings . Street <br /> trees of a species approved by the Director of Parks and <br /> Recreation shall be planted at a maximum of fifty (50) feet <br /> apart, but each lot shall have at least one tree.
