He said the concerns voiced by members
of the Civic Cultural Commission should also be taken into consideration.
-
MEMO 4/14/98
Council Members and City Manager Everett discussed the upcoming budget process,
the upcoming Report to Council of [mal figures for the CIP budget and Council priorities,
the already budgeted $825,000 for this two park project, and the best Council Meeting date
to continue this discussion.
MEMO 4/14/98
In response to Council questions, Director Griffiths explained the time lines for
approvals, negotiations for architectural services and construction. He advised that if the
first decision to go forward in concept was made after June, construction would not be able
to go forward this year.
MEMO 4/14/98
Vice Mayor Ruskin said he believed the time had come to make these improvements. He
said it would be valuable for the Council to discuss it a little further at the April 27
Council Meeting. Vice Mayor Ruskin said "we should go al1ead and do it right... as well
as we can," but the doubts about specifics should be further addressed. Vice Mayor
Ruskin said he was in favor of giving staff direction to begin working on this project so
that it could be completed next year.
-
City Manager Everett explained that staff would begin negotiations right away, but he
wasn't sure if those negotiations could be completed before the April 27 meeting. He said
Council could go forward with the budgeted $825,000 in improvements and delay a
decision on the additional amount to a later time.
CONSENSUS: Mayor Howard determined it to be the consensus of the Council to
continue discussion of this item to the April 27 Council meeting.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 98-097
In response to Council questions, City Manager Everett said the Council could
conceptually approve the proposed designs at this meeting, and the architect could begin
right away, and "in late Mayor June, you could decide if you wanted to add any modulars
back on" to the basic plan costing $825,000.
Council Member Bain said the April 27 meeting was already very full, and suggested that
this discussion be moved to the Council meeting of May 11.
MEMO 4/14/98
-
Adjourned Regular Meeting/Study Session MINUTE BOOK NO. 56 April 13, 1998
Minutes Page No. 393 Page 7
