Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Balsamo paid to have the bronze and granite <br />- monument to Redwood City's fallen soldiers ofWWII restored and installed in front of the <br /> new City Hall alongside the historic flagpole. <br /> Mr. Balsamo thanked the Council and said that he knew most of the men whose names <br /> were on the Plaque, and he wanted to honor his friends, Redwood City's own valiant men, <br /> who had died in WWII. <br /> MEMO 4/27/98 <br /> B. Presentation of Proclamation proclaiming "Skip A Meal for the World's Children Week", <br /> April 26 to May 2,1998. <br /> Mayor Howard presented a Proclamation declaring the week of April 26 to May 2, 1998 <br /> as the Kiwanis sponsored "Skip a Meal for the World's Children Week" This program <br /> will raise money to eliminate blindness and other disorders around the world caused by <br /> iodine deficiency. <br /> Geri Mayers and Walter Woodruff, Woodside Terrace A.M. Kiwanis, thanked the <br /> Council for recognizing this urgent need around the world. Paul Sanfilipo, Redwood City Planning Commissioner, referred to Item 3.G. on the <br /> Consent Calendar and asked that the words "Redwood City Art Center" as shown in the <br /> Item's Report and Resolution be changed to "Redwood City Art Gallery." Staff agreed to <br /> change the wording to Redwood City Art Gallery. <br /> MEMO 4/27/98 <br /> B. Paul Shepherd, Cargill Salt, representing the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber <br /> of Commerce invited everyone to the Business Expo, scheduled for 5-7:30 p.m., Thursday, <br /> May 7 at the Hotel Sofitel. Mr. Shepherd said there would be over 40 exhibitors, hors <br /> d'oeuvres and prizes. <br /> C. Lisa Christy, 2315 Goodwin Avenue, representing United Daughters of the Confederacy, <br /> a non-profit organization, told Council she was planning to sue the Peninsula Celebration <br /> Association, sponsors of the annual 4th of July parade in Redwood City.
