,.' . . I . . - City Manager Everett said no one knew at this point what the alignment would or could be, how much the location would increase the costs, or what the Corps might say. He said - there are more questions than answers, and at this point staff was just looking for Council's general direction. Mayor Howard said she felt strongly that Council have "input into the new design process using City staff, getting CaiTrans involved as quickly as possible, and getting all the agencies working together as soon as possible." She said she supported the staffs recommendations with all the comments being taken into consideration, "but we may run into opposition right away due to certain things we haven't anticipated, and we need to know that as quickly as possible." Council Member Claire asked that the motion be amended to include the wording: "The Roadway configuration to reduce noise and visual impacts be moved as far east as feasible." The maker and seconder of the motion accepted the amendment. Mayor Howard said the improvements to the Woodside Interchange were a top priority for her, and "that has to be fixed. It doesn't work. It is getting worse and worse. I don't see the benefit of the Bayfront Expressway unless we fix Woodside Road." Mayor Howard said she appreciated the input from Mayor Dudley, Jim Bigelow and members of the audience who came forward. She said she wanted to be sure that Recommendations 1-5 - are not listed in priority, because "I consider Number 5 just as important as Numbers I and 2. Council Member Claire said that although this project includes storm drain improvements he wanted to make sure that everyone understood that the City was planning to go forward with its own improvements.
