He <br /> said when "away" games are played the fields should be utilized by other teams, and <br /> "urged the committee to look at that collaborative effort between the Leagues." <br /> CONSENSUS: Mayor Howard determined that it was the consensus of the Council to <br /> support Vice Mayor Ruskin's report and the direction the City/School Liaison Committee <br /> was taking. She said the Council looked forward to the formal proposal and how the <br /> Council would work with its partners on this very important issue. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 98-132 <br /> Mayor Howard thanked all the partners for their efforts and long hours they put in for this <br /> successful collaboration. She expressed support for working on scheduling to gain more <br /> field time for the City's sports teams. <br /> B. Bair Island Task Force report presented by Vice Mayor Ruskin; (205) <br /> REPORT: Chair of the Bair Island Task Force, Vice Mayor Ruskin, April 27, 1998 <br /> - <br /> Vice Mayor Ruskin described the Council's establishment of the Bair Island Task Force <br /> on April 9, 1997 due to the sale ofBair Island to POST. He said the three mandates of the <br /> Task Force were: Explore the feasibility of a connector road between Redwood Shores to <br /> Whipple Road; explore the interest and the need for public, recreational access to Bair <br /> Island; and the third was to gain public input. Vice Mayor Ruskin said the first two <br /> mandates were carried out, but the Task Force wanted to get further direction from the <br /> Council before embarking on receiving public input. He surnn¡arized the report, and said <br /> the Task Force consisted of former Council Member Georgi La Berge now representing <br /> the residents at large, San Carlos Council Member Sylvia Nelson, Jack Greenalch <br /> representing the Chamber of Commerce, Manuel Sotomayor representing Redwood <br /> Shores, and Ralph Nobles, San Mateo County Planning Commissioner, representing the <br /> Friends of Redwood City. Vice Mayor Ruskin thanked all the members who worked so <br /> hard and so cooperatively for so many months, and also thanked the several citizens who <br /> participated at each of the meetings. He described the Mission Statement and list of <br /> stakeholders developed at the meetings.
