BOARDS, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> A. Oral report on the Partnership (Redwood City, Chamber of Commerce and the Redwood <br /> City School District) for School Library Media Centers - Councilwoman La Berge (210) <br /> Couneilwoman La Berge, Chair of the Council/School Subcommittee (other members are <br /> Vice Mayor Howard, Councilman Ruskin and staff liaison Library Director Chen) <br /> described the progress of this unique partnership of the Redwood City Elementary School <br /> District, the Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Redwood City. She advised that <br /> these three organizations came together to ensure that all District schools would have a <br /> state of the art library, connected to Redwood City's award winning Library. <br /> Couneilwoman La Berge said that the City's contribution to the partnership is to provide <br /> $225,000 over three years to fund the position of Library Media Specialist, to oversee the <br /> program and work with Library Director Chen to further the goals of the partnership. <br /> Couneilwoman La Berge. announced that the process had reached the point where it was <br /> time to recruit for this position. She said the position would be posted November 4, 1997 <br /> and the deadline for applications would be November 26, 1997.
