When called upon by Mayor Howard, John Curtis, 749 Barkentine Lane, spoke from the
audience and expressed his support of the previous speakers in opposition to the Project;
Jerry Feight, 510 Tiller Lane, a Redwood Shores resident since 1977, said increased
traffic will have a very deleterious impact on the crossing streets; and Fabiola Suwanto,
12 Portofino Circle, did not respond.
Gail Gamon, 376 Meridian Drive, right off Redwood Shores Parkway, said she opposed
the "Project as it stands." She agreed with the objections and points made by Mr. Atherly,
Mr. Talley, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Sotomayor. Ms. Gamon asked that the Council consider
the increased traffic, and the increased noise level of such a Project on people who work at
home. She yielded her remaining time to Mr. Tom Mitchell.
When called upon by Mayor Howard, Barbara Kantz, 513 Breakwater Drive, did not
respond; Edwin Lee, 805 Southport Drive, spoke from the audience, agreed with the
oppositions stated, and yielded the rest of his time; Frank Massa, 3 Breaker Lane, spoke
from the audience, and stated that he was opposed to the Project; and Philip Kantz, 513
Breakwater Drive, did not respond.
Tom Mitehell, 585 Anchor Circle, President of the Redwood Shores Home Owners
Association, said, "At our last meeting we took a vote, and pretty much the entire
Association was opposed to this Project. I don't think I need to go over any more of the
items that have already been hashed to death here, but there are two items that the Council
mayor may not be aware of.... The Oracle expansion which is happening in Belmont
Shores which is going to seriously impact the traffic situation getting onto 101 from
Marine World Parkway... there are only two entrances/exits to Redwood Shores. One is
Redwood Shores Parkway, and the other is Marine Parkway. You put up 600,000 square
feet of new office space... that far out weighs the 114,000 of this Project. They both
impact the traffic distribution in the Shores.... Electronic Arts is not going to fully develop
the balance of their 13.95 acres, but they are going to sell it off... to somebody else which
creates two corporate entities, or possibly 3, 4, or 5. That property is going to be
developed, as is all property in Redwood Shores... Now we have two correspondent
developments that are going to seriously impact the traffic distribution, without (this
Project.)... I want you to consider that very carefully. Consider this Project in terms of the
entire Redwood Shores, and all the things that are happening out here.... You are our
employees. We rely on you to take care of us. And I'd like to see that done."
George Duebner, Governors Bay, said he was opposed to the Project. He said, "Some of
the things that I have seen and heard tonight have really increased my confidence in this
organization, our employees if you will. It increases my faith in the public process which
does not seem to have been effect in changing zoning to putting something in a buffer.
Why is a buffer a four-story office building, 115,000 square feet. That's a very interesting
definition of a buffer... I hope that you view this as an opportunity to do something for
Redwood Shores, not the opportunity to do something against the developers, but for the
taxpayers that are there." Mr. Duebner said, "the Traffic Study said the risk to people
increases with traffic... the risk increases to children, and I am here, not only as a resident
