ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> A. Karen Lew-Tom, Administrative Aide for State Assemblyman Ted Lempert announced <br /> that the Assemblyman's local office was open and located in Palo Alto. She wished the <br /> Council a happy new year on behalf of Assemblyman Lempert, and encouraged the <br /> Council to get in touch with his local office on any issue of interest to the people of <br /> Redwood City. (203) <br /> B. Don Saye, 2021 Broadway, Redwood City, described Bob Distefano's passing as a <br /> shocking loss personally as well as to the whole City. He also spoke to other issues stating <br /> the new Merchants Group was moving apace, with two scheduled meetings in the near <br /> future, one in the morning and one in the evening. He reported the loss of two stores ITom <br /> Broadway: The Earthquake Supplies Store which is moving to San Francisco, and the <br /> Secret Staircase. He expressed his dismay that the people of Redwood City were not <br /> supporting downtown stores, and bemoaned the loss of these two stores, especially the <br /> unique, charming and acclaimed Secret Staircase book store. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />2. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Mayor Hartnett removed Item 2. C. from the Agenda for consideration immediately following <br /> adoption of the Consent Calendar. <br /> MIS: HOW ARDIRUSKIN TO WAIVE READING OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR, ADOPT THE <br /> RESOLUTIONS AND THE ORDINANCE, AND APPROVE OTHER ITEMS. <br /> ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE. <br /> A.
