CONSENSUS: Mayor Hartnett determined it was the consensus of the Council 1) not to take part in establishing a committee to address the issue of SFIA aircraft noise; 2) to direct Redwood City staff to monitor this situation, as well as have Vice Mayor Howard, Council's CICAG representative, monitor it though C/CAG, and 3) to have the Mayor respond to Mayor Dudley's letter advising that the Redwood City Council had no interest in being a part of founding such a committee at this time, but would appreciate being kept informed as they progress. PUBLIC HEARINGS None held. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST A. Update on proposals for the Circle Star property - Mayor Hartnett. (100) Mayor Hartnett provided an update on the proposals received by the City of San Carlos for construction of a new hotel and office building on the Circle Star Theatre site. Mayor Hartnett said approximately one acre of that land is in the City of Redwood City, and the current proposals included a parking area for the Redwood City site. He described the sales tax and property tax revenues the project would engender and the previous distribution of tax revenues. Mayor Hartnett said Redwood City and San Carlos would continue to have discussions regarding this development as it will have significant traffic impacts on Redwood City, and especially the Centennial Neighborhood. Mayor Hartnett described the positive talks that he and Vice Mayor Howard had with San Carlos Council Members Mike King and Sylvia Nelson regarding the proposals, and described the traffic studies being done for that area. Council Members expressed their very serious concerns about increased traffic in the Centennial Neighborhood, the need to keep the neighbors informed every step of the way, and necessary traffic and aesthetic mitigations. Community Development Director Nelson said the San Carlos staff had been working very cooperatively with the Redwood City staff, and she would continue to have Redwood City concerns fully addressed.
