Councilwoman La Berge referred to a recent press release announcing that SBSA had <br />- won a special award recently: Wastewater Treatment Plant of The Year for the Santa <br /> Clara Valley Region (there were six competing plants.) Additionally, they also received <br /> three other awards: Director of Operations Operator of the Year; Lab person of the Year; <br /> and a Safety Award. Councilwoman La Berge said it was important Redwood City (which <br /> is 51 % of SBSA) knew how efficient and cost effective SBSA was and what a pleasure it <br /> was to be the Council's representative. She announced that, in the last ten years, SBSA <br /> had been awarded the local Operator of the Year five times; and honored with the same <br /> award at the State level, two times. Vice Mayor Howard reminded everyone that Wednesday, January 29, 1997 the Redwood <br /> City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce is having its annual dinner at the Hotel <br /> Sofitel, and will honor Redwood City's Corinne Centeno as Athena Businesswoman of the <br /> Year, as well as other business awards. <br /> Friday, January 31, 1997 the Redwood Shores Home Owners Association will hold its <br /> annual meeting, 7:30 p.m. at the Hotel Sofitel, and staff and some Council Members will <br /> be there to answer questions. <br /> Thursday, February 6, 1997 is the first class of the Redwood City Citizens Police <br /> Academy, and there are still some openings.
