<br /> Engineering Manager Patterson presented the staff report and said the Council was <br /> being asked to accept the bid for Sandpiper Park, one of three phases of the construction of <br /> the Redwood Shores Neighborhood school, community center and park complex. <br /> Manager Patterson advised that staff had proposed ten alternatives for the bidders to <br /> consider in their bids, and was pleased to announce that all ten alternatives were included <br /> in the bid the Council is being asked to consider. He added that the bid, including the ten <br /> alternatives, was $1.9 million, approximately $460,000 under the engineer's estimate. <br /> Manager Patterson said the budgeted funds not used for the park will be used for the <br /> community center and fire station/maintenance facility in Redwood Shores. <br /> MIS: HOWARDIBUCHAN. Amend and Redesignate a Redevelopment Survey Area - Fourth Amendment Sub-Area <br /> (Formerly identified as "101 Corridor Plan") (402) <br /> REPORT: Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Church, January 27,1997 <br /> Redevelopment/Housing Specialist Cady presented the staff report and said California <br /> Redevelopment law allows a City to amend an existing project area. He described the <br /> proposed expanded border and said the purchase of the Ampex site by a private party <br /> necessitated its removal ITom the Survey Area. <br /> Specialist Cady, using overheads, explained that the Council was being asked to adopt an <br /> amended Survey Area and direct the Planning Commission, according to Redevelopment <br /> law, to create a proposed Redevelopment Project Area boundary ITom within that Survey <br /> Area, and form a subcommittee to work with staff. <br /> In response to Council questions, Specialist Cady defined blight according to <br /> Redevelopment law; described the removal of the Ampex site and Mervyn's Plaza ITom <br /> the Survey Area; and explained the nature of the proposed Survey Area boundaries ITom <br /> which Project Areas will be established by the Planning Commission. <br /> In response to Council questions, City Manager Everett advised that staff could draw the <br /> boundaries of the proposed Survey Area anywhere the Council directed them to do, and <br /> had never intended to create Redevelopment projects in residential neighborhoods. <br />REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOO1( NO. 55 JANUARY27,1997 <br />MINUTES PAGE 15 <br /> Page No. 118 <br />
