7.1.B. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> March 24, 2014 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Award of Contract-2013-2014 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, approve the contract documents and award the standard form construction <br /> contract for the 2013-2014 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project to Casey Construction, <br /> Inc. of Emerald Hills, California for their responsive and responsible low base bid of <br /> $829,516.00; and, authorize the City Manager to execute the contract and increase the <br /> contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amount awarded, not to exceed <br /> $912,467.60. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The city systematically replaces sections of aging sewer infrastructure to ensure the <br /> continued reliability of the system. Each year, staff identifies pipelines that require <br /> excessive maintenance or experience repeated service disruptions and targets those <br /> pipelines for improvement. <br /> The 2013-2014 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project includes rehabilitation of pipe <br /> segments in the sewer basin bordered by Hopkins Avenue, El Camino Real, Jefferson <br /> Avenue, Opal Avenue and Myrtle Street. This project will rehabilitate approximately <br /> 4,456 linear feet of sewer main. CIPP methods will be used for the majority of the <br /> rehabilitation work.
